Alma K. Daniels (1949–2026)

Alma K. Daniels, age 76, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, transitioned peacefully in the comfort of her home on February 2, 2026.

She was born in 1949 in Lawtell, Louisiana, to the late Telesmar Kennerson and Wilda Carrier Kennerson. Alma was the youngest of ten children.

She attended Holy Ghost School and graduated from J.S. Clark High School in 1967 in Opelousas, Louisiana. Alma began her career in education as a teacher’s aide, serving at Southwest Elementary, North Elementary, and East Junior High. She later continued her education at the University of Southwest Louisiana, where she earned a degree with a major in English and a minor in Library Science. Alma went on to teach English at Central High School in Central, Louisiana.

After resigning from teaching, Alma devoted herself fully to her family, proudly serving as a full-time “household engineer,” a role she cherished deeply. Outside of her dedication to family and education, Alma was an avid bowler, a passion that brought her joy, laughter, and lasting friendships over the years.

Alma was preceded in death by her parents, Telesmar and Wilda Carrier Kennerson; her brothers, Wilfred “Bay” Kennerson (Audrey), Joseph Arlington Kennerson (Lucy), Willis K. K. Kennerson (Gloria), Telesmar Kennerson, and A.B. Kennerson; her sisters, Dorothy Simien (Charles) and Loretha Kennerson Bellard (Herbert); and her brother-in-law, Melvin Gallien.

She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband, Michael J. Daniels; her loving daughter, Nicole Daniels; her sisters, Elva Gallien and Theresa Gasaway (Larry); her sisters-in-law, Bernice Kennerson and Lorraine Kennerson; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and long-time special friends of the Singleton family, including her beloved best friend, Loretta Singleton, as well as her caring and supportive neighbors.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center and St. Joseph Hospice for their compassionate care and support.
