Andrew Louis "Andy" Gagnon

July 5, 1948 – July 20, 2026

Andrew Louis Gagnon, lovingly known as "Andy," passed away peacefully on July 20, 2026, at The Carpenter House in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, at the age of 78.

Andy was born on July 5, 1948, at St. Anne's Hospital in Fall River, Massachusetts, to Thomas Gagnon and Evelyn Ouelette, who preceded him in death.

Andy proudly served his country in the United States Army for more than twenty years, retiring with the rank of First Sergeant (E-8). During his distinguished military career, he served in Vietnam and received numerous honors and decorations, including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with one Silver Star and four Bronze Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Aircraft Crewman Badge, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and other commendations recognizing his faithful and honorable service to his country.

After his military career, Andy devoted himself to his family. Twelve years ago, he suffered a stroke that left him paralyzed, yet he faced each day with courage and determination. Through every challenge, his beloved wife, Doris, faithfully cared for him with unwavering love and devotion. Their commitment to one another was a beautiful example of enduring love and selfless sacrifice.

Andy is survived by his loving wife, Doris Lee McMorris Gagnon; his daughters, Nadine Gagnon and Robin Brown; his stepsons, Alan Lanier and Jeffrey Lanier; stepdaughters-in-law Amanda Lanier and Christine Lanier; step-grandchildren Lexi Lanier, Joshua Lanier, and Justin Lanier; grandchildren Amy Liles, Rebecca Nunez, Andrew Nunez wife Alana, Kera Cleveland, Deanna Gagnon, Joseph Neal, and Sara Martinez; great-grandchildren Vada Mims, Noah Mims, Aberiell Mims, Aubrey Nunez, Annalize Nunez, Ayson Nunez, Aura Nunez, Jerry Liles, and Francesca Liles; and his sisters, Pauline Soares and Charlene Ouelette.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Gagnon and Evelyn Ouellette, and his beloved daughter, Renee Neal.

Andy will be remembered for his strength, his courage, his love for his family, and his faithful service to both his country and those he loved. Although his family mourns his passing, they rejoice in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ and find comfort knowing he is now free from pain and at peace in the presence of the Lord.
