Andrew Hatten Rushing

Andrew Hatten Rushing, born in Baton Rouge and a resident of Denham Springs, passed away September 16, 2025 at the age of 80. Andrew’s unwavering hard work and can-do personality led him to a career as a millwright for 44 years. He worked for Ethyl corporation for 18 years before going to Motiva and eventually, Dow Chemical. Andrew’s greatest joy was found in the laughter and love shared with his family, particularly his grandchildren. He also had a passion for traveling, which led him to experience new cultures and create unforgettable memories. His loving heart will be dearly missed by all those who knew him.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jo Ann Sysak Rushing; sons, Michael Rushing(Veronica), David Rushing(Paula), Brian Rushing(Mechelle) and Todd Rushing(Tonja); grandchildren, Brooklyn Rushing Hornsby(Bo), Hunter Bret Rushing(Shelbie), Rebecca Rushing, Emily Rushing, Stephanie Rushing, Shane Rushing (Leslie), Tyler Merrell(Lauren), Steven Rushing(Drew Elizabeth), and Peyton Rushing; step-grandchildren, Louis(Brittney Rhodus), Clint(Lauren), and Michael Crowson(Baylie); 10 great-grandchildren; 5 step-great-grandchildren; sister, Linda Lewis(Hillary); sister and brother-in-laws, Mary Jane and Bruce “Bubba” Easterly and TeeJohn and Gayle Owens. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

He is preceded in death by parents; Mary Jane and Gay Rushing; mother-in-law, Ann Marie Owens; sister and brother-in-law, Vernon Ray and Mary Andrews.

The family would like to thank Joey Berthelot and his sons and family for their friendship and support.

A memorial service will take place at Seale Funeral Home in Denham Springs on Thursday, September 18, 2025 with visitation from 10:00 AM -1:00 PM and service beginning at 1:00 PM.
