Anita Pearl Swindle

Anita Pearl Jones Swindle, age 81, passed away at her home in Watson, LA on Friday, January 09, 2026. She was born October 11, 1944 in Watson, LA.

Anita attended Live Oak High School, and continued her education at Louisiana State University with a bachelors in secondary education obtained in 1964, and a master of education in 1972. Anita began teaching at Live Oak at the age of 19. She continued to teach at Live Oak for a number of decades before becoming vice principal at the high school, followed by a stint as principal of the elementary school. She finished her career at the Livingston Parish School Board as a transportation director. Anita retired from the LPSB in 2004.

Anita is preceded in death by her father, David Wallace Jones Sr; mother, Sarah Wascom Jones; brother; David Wallace Jones Jr.; and niece, Dana Jones Foreman. She is survived by her husband, James Otis Dean Swindle Sr; her son, James Otis Dean Swindle Jr; her daughter in law, Kimberly Reid Swindle; her three grandchildren, Joseph Maxwell Swindle, Blair Swindle Courtney, and Madeline Elise Swindle; her great-grandson, Bennett Swindle; her sister, Jacqueline Jones Hayden; her nieces and nephews, Jeffery David Jones, Bridget Hayden Arceneaux, and Jessica Hayden Everhart, their spouses; as well as numerous great nieces and nephews.

Anita’s life will be celebrated with a Thursday, January 15th visitation at Seale Funeral home in Denham Springs, LA from 9-11 AM with services to immediately follow. A graveside service will then follow at Amite Church, in Watson. The graveside service will be open to anyone wishing to attend. Pallbearers will include: Max Swindle, Jeff Jones, Scott Arceneaux, David Everhart, Kyle Arceneaux, Caleb Browning and Eric Johnson.
