A beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, and friend passed away Saturday, January 31, 2026. He was a native of Maurepas and resident of Denham Springs, LA.
Survived by his wife of 43 years, Jacqueline "Jackie" Fontenot; mother Shirley Fontenot; sons Michael Prejean (fiancé Crystal) and Anthony J. Fontenot (Casey); grandchildren Courtlyn, Chanler, and Chayce Fontenot and Chevie Thornton; siblings Warren "Skippy" Fontenot Jr. (Darlene) Sheila Bare (Don), Andrew Fontenot (Dana), Jeremy Fontenot (Samantha); Godchildren Jamie Fontenot and Kenneth Oliver Jr.; Father In-law John Jarreau. Also, very special brother George Shaheen, brother in-law Randy Martin, and daughter Tracey Murillo (Gus).
Preceded in death by his father, Warren Fontenot; grandparents Felician "Feace" Fontenot, Melonie "Feace" Fontenot, Andrew Sanchez Jr., and Aline Vampran, and infant granddaughter Camrynn Fontenot.
He was a graduate of Maurepas High School and worked 38 years in the fab shop and Dow Chemical Plaquemine. He will be deeply missed by all, but remembered for his unique sense of humor, quick wit, deep love for his family, love of celebrating holidays, and joy he brought to anyone around him. Above all, he loved his grandchildren immensely and loved being called “Poppa.”
Visitation will be held at Seale Funeral Home in Denham Springs on Monday, February 2, 2026 from 4pm- 8pm. Visitation will continue Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in French Settlement starting at 9am until religious service at 11am. Deacon Jimmy Little will lead the services. Burial to follow in church cemetery.
Pallbearers are George Shaheen, Chanler Fontenot, Wayne Jarreau, Johnny Jarreau, Randy Martin, Gus Murillo, and Chad McCants. Honorary pallbearer, Chayce Fontenot.
