Barbara Simoneaux Smith

Barbara Simoneaux Smith, Age 80, passed away on Friday, January 19, 2024.  Beloved wife of 62 years to Charlie Joseph Smith and mother to Douglas Joseph Smith.  Survived by her siblings, Lloyd J Simoneaux, Jr. (Donna), Shirley S. Bowers (Joe), Connie S. Guilbeau (Val) and Cindy Simoneaux. Preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd Joseph Simoneaux and Hazel Guillot Simoneaux, and sister Carolyn S. Alleman (Don).  Trained as a commercial artist at L.E. Rabouin, and employed at the LA Dept of Highways in the 1960s before the age of Computer Aided Design, she drew much of the I-10 and I-110 interstate in downtown Baton Rouge and the Bonnet Carre Spillway by hand with a French curve.  She was a landlord for 42 years.  As a licensed real estate broker and builder, she designed and built several houses and her personal home.  She had a strong Christian faith and was a member of Family Worship Center.  Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Visitation at Seale Funeral Home, 1720 S Range Ave, Denham Springs, LA on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm with a service at 12:00 pm.  Interment will be in Louisiana National Cemetery in Zachary, LA.
