Benjamin “Benny” Lane, 71, of Watson, LA, passed away on Thursday morning surrounded by his wife and four children. He was born on September 16, 1954, in Amite, LA. After graduating from Spring Creek High School in 1972, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, and married his high school sweetheart in December of that same year. He worked as a plant operator in the chemical field, and later in the oil and gas industry. Benny loved fishing, cutting the grass, and spending time with his family, especially behind his grill.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Evelyn Lane; siblings Janet “Boots” Reiger, Jeff “Buddy” Lane, William “Bill” Lane, and Robert “Bobby” Lane; and father-in-law William “Clovis” Birch.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 53 years, Sue Birch Lane; his children Stacey Lane, Romy Magee (Danny), Tricia Hebert (Brandon), and Todd Lane (Jordyn); grandchildren Brock and Chloe Magee, Layton and Landon Hebert, and Aurora Lane; sisters-in-law Debby Lane, Brenda Lane, Judy Bridges, Rhonda McGehee, and Beth Brabham; and brother-in-law Bill Birch.
Visitation will be held at Live Oak Church in Watson, LA, on Sunday, November 30, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., with services at 3:00 p.m.
