Benny Joe Carringone, Jr.

Benny Joe Carringone Jr. passed away Friday, July 11, 2025. He was 73 years old. Born Jan. 10, 1952, he was a native and lifelong resident of Plaquemine, LA. Benny worked for many years as a contract worker at Dow Chemical before retiring. He was an avid LSU sports fan and attended almost all home and away games for many years. He was a true diehard Tiger fan. He could quickly tell you stats, scores and players from past years. He coached many baseball teams over the years. He was an overall natural athlete in his youth, whether it was football, baseball or basketball. He enjoyed watching and talking anything sports related. He always enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by father, Benny Carringone, Sr.; mother, Shirley Benard Prater; grandparents, Dominic and Nettie Palermo Carringone, and Amelia Lott, and Louis Bernard.

He is survived by daughter, Trinity Carringone; son, Ryan Carringone (Tammie), brothers, Mike Carringone (Amelie), Brett Carringone, Leroy Brown (Lucille), Darren Brown; sister, Dana Berthelot (Donald); grandchildren, Gabby "Goose", Blake, and Kody Alvarez, and Ryan "RahRah" Carringone II; mother, Shirley Carringone Fleniken; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the service for Benny on August 1, at St. John Catholic Church, 57805 Main Street, Plaquemine, LA. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until Mass at 11 a.m., officiated by his cousin Fr. Jason Palermo. A graveside service will follow at Grace Memorial with a time of celebration at the church hall immediately after. Friends and relatives are welcome to share your memories. Everyone is encouraged to wear purple and gold. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
