Carol Elaine Smith

Carol Elaine Smith, 80, of Denham Springs, Louisiana, passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at her home. She and her mother, Helen were one of the first residents of La Plantation Assisted Living. Her mother assumed the self-given title, “Mayor of La Plantation”. Upon her death, Carol quickly assumed the title and began to “run this place.” Carol was a self-taught pianist and was always wanting someone to sing along with her while playing. In her 21 years at La Plantation, Carol grew dear to everyone there, from the Administrator to the Receptionist and all in between. These folks not only cared for her daily needs, but with their assistance and encouragement, Carol was able to thrive and maintain her independence far longer than her doctors or caregivers could have expected. Combined with the love and care from her siblings and their families, Carol had a wonderful life.

She was preceded in death by her father, J.W. Smith; mother and stepfather, Helen and Marvin Waldrop; and brother, Craig Waldrop.

She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Keith and Denise Waldrop; sisters and brothers-in-law, Vickey and Mike Lott, Monica and Richard Harrison, and Kim and Jack Hutchinson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relative.

Visitation will be held at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, Thursday, September, 25, from 9 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Denham Springs Memorial Cemetery.
