In Loving Memory of
Carolyn Ann Maggio Ashy
July 12, 1945 – October 15, 2026
With hearts full of love and cherished memories, we celebrate the beautiful life of Carolyn Ann Maggio Ashy, affectionately known as Carol.
Carol was a woman of extraordinary kindness, unwavering faith, and unconditional love. She had a gentle, calming spirit and a remarkable ability to make everyone feel loved, accepted, and understood. Never one to judge, she approached others with patience, compassion, and grace.
Her faith in the Lord was the foundation of her life. Carol loved God deeply and trusted in His plans, even during life's most difficult seasons. Her favorite Bible verse, Jeremiah 29:11, beautifully reflected the hope and trust she carried throughout her life:
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
For many years, Carol owned and operated a beauty salon, where she shared not only her talents but also her warmth and genuine love for people. She later worked for the Louisiana Secretary of State in the Archives Division until her retirement.
Family was Carol's greatest treasure. Blessed with an impeccable memory, she was the family's historian and the person everyone turned to for names, dates, stories, relationships, and cherished memories. She treasured her lifelong friendships just as dearly, maintaining meaningful connections with those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Carol also had a delightful sense of humor and a personality all her own. She affectionately referred to herself as a “professional piddler,” always finding little things to do and happily keeping herself busy. She loved rhinestones, beautiful colors, and a little extra bling from head to toe. Her unmistakable sparkle was matched only by the warmth of her heart. She also adored her precious dog, Fiesta, who brought her endless companionship and joy.
Her Loving Family
Above all, Carol's greatest joy and most precious blessings were her children, Danielle Martrain (Jeff Martrain) and Nicholas Ashy (Angel Ashy). They were her whole world, and the love she had for them knew no bounds. Through every season of life, she loved them unconditionally, celebrated their happiness, and stood beside them with unwavering devotion. Being their mother was one of the greatest gifts of her life, and the love they shared will remain an enduring part of her legacy.
Carol is also lovingly remembered by her former husband, George Ashy, with whom she shared many years and the blessing of family. She is remembered by her stepchildren, Kandace Ashy; Priscilla Reynoldson (Corey Reynoldson); and Lisa Ashy Maestri (Jeffrey Maestri).
Her beloved grandchildren include Jeffrey Martrain (Kaycee Martrain); Hunter Martrain (Paige Martrain); Courtney Matherne; Luke Ashy; Brock Ashy; Brooke Colquitt (Kyle Colquitt); Brittany Henry (Josh Henry); Jacob Langley (Shelby Langley); Parris Fletcher (Michael Fletcher); Brooklyn Souder (Gary Souder); Collins Wilkerson (Hannah Wilkerson); Makenzie Monlezun; and Karli Augustine
Her precious great-grandchildren include Hayes Matherne; Braxton Matherne; Sophia Martrain, Colt Martrain, Tinsley Martrain, Ladd Langley, Liam Henry, Ledger Henry, Charitie Colquitt, and Macon Colquitt, along with the anticipated arrival of Maddox Martrain.
Carol was also blessed with great-great-grandchildren Banks Fletcher, Wrenlynn Jett Colquitt, Winslie Reid Colquitt, Sky Berlin, and Aero Zurich.
Carol is survived by her beloved sister, Kim Maggio Arceneaux (Ronnie Arceneaux), and brother, Ronnie Maggio, who were among her greatest blessings. Their extraordinary bond was rooted in a lifetime of shared memories, unwavering support, and a closeness that only grew stronger through the years. Lynell Frederic also remained a beloved part of this family, sharing in the love and memories that will forever connect them.
Carol also leaves behind her beloved nieces and nephews: Ashlee Torgerson; Shelley Caves (Dusty Caves); Heather Brooks (Elton Brooks); Jeremy Maggio; Blasia Arceneaux Rivet (Brant Rivet); Bliss Arceneaux Dufour (Adam Dufour); Blair Arceneaux Simon (Luke Simon); Blake Maggio (Amy Maggio); and Britny Auxt (Flynn Auxt), along with numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis William Maggio Sr. and Libby Martha Bruce Maggio; her brother, Louis William Maggio Jr.; her stepson, Jacob Ashy; her grandson, Dillon Ashy; and her nephew, Louis William Maggio III, affectionately known as “Trey.”
Special Appreciation
Carol's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Samuels, Dr. Raven, Pinnacle Palliative Care and Hospice, Our Lady of the Lake HV8, and The Crossing for their exceptional compassion, kindness, and dedication.
The comfort, dignity, and loving care provided to Carol during her final days, along with the support extended to her family, will forever be remembered and deeply appreciated.
A Beautiful Life, A Lasting Legacy
Carol leaves behind a legacy of faith, kindness, laughter, and love. She taught those around her the beauty of a gentle spirit, the importance of family, and the joy found in life's simplest moments.
Heaven has gained a beautiful soul, and we can only imagine Carol arriving with a little extra sparkle as she reunites with the loved ones who went before her.
She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten. Until we meet again.
