Cathy was a faithful servant of Christ, raised in the Catholic Church and later became one of the founding members of Luke 10:27 in Denham Springs, LA. She had an abundance of faith and grace, dedicating many years to the Emmaus Community in Baton Rouge, where she brought much joy and laughter. Cathy genuinely loved all people, but she had special love for babies, and couldn't resist connecting with them everywhere she went, with her sweet spirit, captivating smile and the comforting bright light that seemed to surround her. She loved her family and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was born on October 10, 1944 and raised in Baton Rouge, LA, graduated from Redemptorist High in 1962, attended Southeastern University where she met and married her former husband, Al Baldwin. After staying home many years to raise their 3 children, she went back to school and graduated from LSU. She worked for the State of Louisiana and retired as Admin Supervisor with the Compliance Department of DOTD. She was a dedicated employee and believed in fairness and equality in the workforce. She was a longtime member of Toastmasters, where she gained many lifetime friendships.
She and her husband of 31 years, Richard, moved to Denham Springs to be closer to their grandchildren. Cathy lived the last 10 years with Alzheimer's, full of grace, quiet courage, and was loved by all who knew and cared for her. With her two daughters, who loved her dearly, by her side, she passed peacefully to be with the Lord on April 15, 2026.
She is survived by her daughters Janice Meadors (Jimmy Ard), Deanna Cowart (Bryan), and Theresa Carrier (Mark), son Greg Baldwin (Jessica), grandchildren Alexandra (Adam), Geneva, Benedict and Zachary Baldwin, Tyler (Kayla), Thomas (Victoria) and Trenton (Amanda) Zimmerebner, Holly Aguirre, Jeremy (Jordyn) Watson, and Samantha and Jacob O'Rork, great-grandchildren Larina, Caiden, Anthony, Torren, Aliyah, Jaxson, Liam, and her 'special angel' Rayna, sister Anne M. O'Brien (Dennis), nieces Brenda Thorp and Jennifer Kanoff, nephews Brent and Brock Baldwin, Mathew O'Brien, and Matthew Rando, sister-in-law Darlene Alexander, and brother-in-law William "Bill" Baldwin (Sue).
She is preceded in passing by her father Joseph J. Mawhinney, mother Dorothy "Honey" Mawhinney, husband Richard M. Rando, son Ricky Rando, son-in-laws Stephen O'Rork and Kirk Meadors, and brother-in-law Jimmy Rando.
A special thank you to Modern Hospice, Landmark South Nursing CtR, and forever grateful for longtime, faithful, and special caregiver Kimberly London.
