At the age of 71, Cecil A. Ott, Sr. passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, March 6, 2026. Cecil was born in Denham Springs on January 10, 1955, to Alvin Ott and Eula Lee Jones Ott. He graduated from Live Oak High School in 1972 and has lifelong friends from his school years.
Cecil was known for his love of the simple things in life. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, farming, and spending time working in his garden. He also enjoyed watching old westerns and listening to different church services when he wasn’t able to attend in person. Cecil took pride in building birdhouses and working with his hands. Above all, he cherished time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Cecil is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years, Bobbie, and his two daughters, Bridgett Ott and Billie Ott McCurry (Mike). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Tyler McCurry, Kaitlyn Granger (Taylor), Jaidyn Bond, Hunter Ott, and Gauge Ott; his great-grandchildren, Laikyn and Kane McCurry, Carter and Cayson Granger, and Kai Palmer; and his sisters, Joy Sibley and Janice Britton(Danny). He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and many lifelong friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his son, Cecil (Beau) Ott Jr.; his parents, Alvin and Eula Ott; his brother, Donald Ott; and his father and mother-in-law, Gene and Hattie Watson.
Services will be held at Amite Baptist Church on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and on Wednesday morning, March 11, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with the service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial.
Pallbearers will be Tyler McCurry, Mike McCurry, Hunter Ott, Gauge Ott, Curtis Ott, and Taylor Granger.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kirk Benton, Carl Chutz, James Ott, Cameron Palmer, and Brad Cannon.
Family and friends are invited to Oakleigh House of Reception, 48000 Hwy 16, Denham Springs, LA, following the burial.
Cecil will be remembered for his love of family, his hardworking spirit, and the simple joys that brought him happiness throughout his life. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
