Charles "Charlie" Hunter Bruce

Charles Hunter Bruce, 75, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away Thursday, February 12, 2026. Charlie was a graduate of Robert E Lee High School, Baton Rouge. He worked for many years for LADOTD before retiring. Charlie loved watching Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and Indiana Jones movies. He loved being around his children and grandchildren and he never met a stranger, always helping others in need.

Charlie is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jo Ann Monistere Bruce; daughters, Tracey Strahan Sibley (Britt) and Crystal Bruce Herron (William); grandchildren, Kaitlynn Reeves, D’Shai Bruce Tokachi (Dominic), Tristan Hull (Reyalin) Bucky Herron, and Eileen Herron; great granddaughters, Tatum Marie Tokachi, and due in May, Ricah Olivia Hull; nephews, Adam Bruce, Matthew Bruce Jr, and Daniel Bruce.

He was preceded in death by his son, Joseph “Joey” Bruce; mother, Anniece Strahan Bruce; brother, Matthew Bruce; sister, Patricia Ann Bruce; and his father.
