Charles Lynn “Chico” Polar, 67, of Livingston, Louisiana passed away unexpectedly yet peacefully in Ruston, Louisiana on May 3, 2026.

Charles was born on March 8, 1959, in New Roads, Louisiana to the Union of Ray and Victoria Polar. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, enlisting in 1977 and dedicating 15 years of honorable service.

He was a dedicated leader and valued team member at Stines’s in Walker, Louisiana for nearly 8 years.

Charles was the devoted husband of 18 years to Amber Poche Polar; a loving father to his son, Charles Edward Polar, and his daughters, Chloe and Brayleigh Polar; a proud grandfather to his granddaughters, Ramsie, Ryllie, Reign, and grandson, Noah.

He is also survived by his brothers, Michael Polar, Warren Polar (Yvette), Eric Polar (Michelle), and Gerald Polar; sisters, Cassandra Butler, Yvonne Chapman (Jerry), Janis Kimble (Robert), Wanda Kimble (Leniel), and Lisa Langster (Travis); his father and mother in law, George and Sonya Akridge and Joseph and Lenora Poche; brother in law, Tyler Akridge (Samantha), as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Victoria Polar; and his daughter, Monique Polar.

Charles lived fully through his final day. He was one of a kind - a dedicated and loyal, husband, father, grandfather and friend - who never gave up on the New Orleans Saints. Charles had an infectious and genuine attitude towards life that inspired the lives of those around him. He was a familiar and friendly face at every ball park and gymnasium, where he could always be found, supporting his young daughters, Chloe and Brayleigh. He was known for a genuine conversation and his witty comments that kept those around him laughing - WHAT! He brought life to the party and was always willing to dance and enjoy the night.

Charles proudly represented and supported the Outlaw Select softball team where he created lifelong friendships with many families.

Serving as pallbearers will be, Eric Polar, Warren Polar, Robert Woolfolk, Tyler Akridge, George Akridge, and Randy Dencausse. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Edward Polar, Gerald Polar, Michael Polar, Jerry Chapman, and Travis Langster.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at Colyell Baptist Church 19524 LA-42, Livingston, on Thursday, May 7, 2026 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM. The visitation will continue on Friday, May 8, 2026 from 9:00 AM until the funeral service at 12:00 PM. The graveside service and burial will follow at Colyell Baptist Church Cemetery, in Livingston, Louisiana.
