Constance Jewel Hunter Acker

Constance Jewel Hunter Acker, age 82, passed away on August 6, 2025, in New Roads, Louisiana. Born on January 24, 1943, in New Orleans, she remained deeply rooted in the city that shaped her life and legacy.

A proud graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, in 1960, Constance carried the values of education and perseverance throughout her life. Her journey was marked by devotion to family and a spirit of compassion that touched all who knew her.

Constance married the love of her life, C.W. Acker in the spring of 1962 and together they built a family filled with love and resilience. She took great pride in raising her daughter Marlise Acker Legan and two sons Marlon Acker and Darren Acker Sr. Constance was deeply devoted to her family, ad her pride in them was evident to everyone who knew her.

She is lovingly remembered by her children: sons Marlon Acker (Karen) and Darren Acker (Rise’) and daughter Marlise Acker Leban (Kirk). She also is remembered by her brother Leonard Hunter (Ann) and her devoted grandchildren, Marlon Jr, Chavaz, Ashley, Keshuane, Kirk Jr, Darren Jr, Iana and Brandon. Her great-grandchildren Jada, Remy, Shawn III, Shane, Jamari, Sofia and Marlon III. She will also be remembered by a host of nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; and many other cherished family members and friends.

Those who knew Constance will remember her for her strength, resilience, and unwavering sense of pride in her family. She faced life’s challenges with determination, leaving behind and example that will continue to inspire those who knew her. Her memory will live on the hearts of those she held close.

May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
