Listen to Obituary

Damon Joshua “D.J.” Summerlin, resident of Denham Springs, passed at the age of 19 on February 8, 2026. He was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to his parents Barry Joshua Summerlin and Wendy Savoy on September 23, 2006. D.J. was attending adult education classes while taking courses on welding, as well as being a member of the Big Brother D.A.R.E. Team. In his free time, he loved to play videogames and go fishing. Most importantly, D.J. loved his family and friends more than anything. Vacationing was his favorite for D.J. and his mom. Travelling and exploring together meant being able to make memories instead of trading gifts. D.J. was kind hearted and silly, his greatest joy being able to put smiles on others faces. He will be deeply missed by the many people who had the privilege to know and love him, and his kindness will live on in those that knew him.

He is survived by his mother Wendy Savoy, grandmother Connie Walker (Harold), grandfather Joseph Roger Savoy, grandmother Rose Warren, aunts Deanna Savoy, Kimberly Morton (John), Rebecca Summerlin, and Lola Aleman, uncles Russell Hebert Jr. and Harold Walker II, numerous cousins, and many beloved friends.

He is preceded in passing by his father Barry Joshua Summerlin and great-grandparents Benjamin and Neva Savoy.

Pallbearers will be Cameron, E.J., Gabe, Layne, Payton, Rage, and Zane.

A special thank you to Deanna Savoy for her special love and care during this difficult time.
