David Corbett Chemin, age 75, a resident of Greenwell Springs, Louisiana, passed away on January 11, 2026.
David was born on June 15, 1950, in Baton Rouge and was a graduate of Central High School. He proudly served his community through a long and dedicated career with the Baton Rouge Fire Department, from which he later retired. His service and commitment to helping others were a source of pride for both his family and those who had the privilege of working alongside him.
Outside of his career, David found his greatest joy in the simple pleasures of life—spending time fishing and, most importantly, being with his family. He was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, and a steady presence whose love for his family was evident in all he did.
David is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Heather Chemin; his daughters, Kristina Bales (husband Ryan) and Dina Sims (husband Britt); his sons, Cory Chemin (wife Belinda), Bryan Chemin (wife Tracie), and Brian Leake; his grandchildren, Shooter Chemin, Maddyx Bales, Gavin Bales, Blake Chemin, Lauren Chemin, Ryan Heflin (wife Jordan), Kaley Wolf (husband Matthew), Sara Sims, Brianna VanZanten (husband Andre), Brittany Leake, Brooke Leake, Zack Leake, and Brody Leake; and his great-grandchildren, Sawyer Heflin, Hudson Heflin, Crew Wolf, Beckham Wolf, Noah Wolf, and Coen VanZanten.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Juanita Chemin.
His legacy of service, love, and dedication to family will be cherished and remembered always by those who knew and loved him.
