David Edward Rutledge, 89, a native of Palmetto, Louisiana and a resident of Denham Springs, Louisiana passed away on November 30, 2025. He was born on August 29, 1936 in Keller Lake, Louisiana to Virginia O’Neal Rutledge and David Rosco Rutledge. David was an Army Corpsman during the Cuban Crisis, a pipefitter, roughneck and a retiree from Reynolds metal Co. as a keel operator. He loved his family and worked so hard providing for them.
David is survived by his daughter, Rebecca “Becky” young (Jimmy); daughter in law, Kaye Rutledge; grandchildren, Rebecca Michelle Young, Rachel Marjorie Fassbinder (Marty), Datha Ortist (Timothy) and Virginia Hunt (Jerame); great grandchildren, Rylee, Chyane, Brees, Chole, Kylee, Lance, and Brady; brother, Carl Farely Rutledge (Sue); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
David is preceded in death by his wife Marjorie Delois Rutledge; son, David Michael Rutledge; grandson, David Kaymon Rutledge; parents, David Rosco Rutledge and Virginia Rutledge; sister, Daisy Cooke (Paul) and Elizabeth P. Rutledge.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family at Seale Funeral Home, 1720 South Range Ave, Denham Springs, Louisiana for a visitation on Monday, December 8, 2025 starting at 9:00 AM until the funeral service at 11:00 AM. Graveside service with military honors will follow at False River Memorial Park, 2110 False River Drive, New Roads, Louisiana at 2:00 PM.
