Deborah Kay Smith, lovingly known as “Debbie,” passed away on March 5, 2026. She was born on November 10, 1952, in Houston, Texas.
Debbie was a devoted member of Goodwood Church of Christ, where her faith played an important role in her life. She found great joy in reading her Bible and living a life rooted in kindness, generosity, and encouragement to others.
She had a thoughtful and caring spirit and was well known for sending letters and care packages to friends and loved ones, always finding ways to brighten someone’s day. Debbie also enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially hiking and visiting the river. She had a deep appreciation for Texas memorabilia and loved antique hunting, always excited to discover unique treasures along the way.
Above all, Debbie cherished time spent with her grandchildren and family, who brought her endless pride and happiness.
Debbie will be remembered for her warm heart, her faithful spirit, and the many small acts of kindness that made a lasting impact on those around her.
Debbie is survived by her husband of 50 years, Mitchell Smith; daughters, Crystal Smith Reeves (John) and April Smith Gardner (Kevin); grandchildren, Caitlin Reeves Schnieder (James), Connor Reeves (Kylie), Rylie Gardner, Lyndsie Gardner, Christian Reeves, Whitley Gardner, Caity Reeves, Kaden Gardner, Canaan Reeves, Avery Gardner, and Kohen Gardner; great grandchildren, Kalaiah, Eden, and Cohen; sisters-in-law, Sharon Henderson, Joni Winscott (Gary) and Kay Morris (Keith); nieces, Carrie Henderson and Shelley Morris; nephews, Wyatt Henderson and Dan Morris (Haley); along with many friends good neighbors, sisters and brothers in Christ and cousins.
Debbie is preceded in death by her father, Archie Henderson; mother, Wilma Henderson; brother, Alan Henderson; and granddaughter, Madelyn Gardner.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the family at Goodwood Church of Christ on March 12, 2026 for a visitation at 9:00 AM until the Celebration of Life at 10:00 AM. Graveside service and burial will take place at Louisiana National Cemetery on March 13, 2026 at 10:00 AM.
