Proverbs 10: 7 declares that “The memory of the righteous is blessed…”Delores Anne Toomey McClure, age 91, widow of the late Larry Ray McClure, passed away on Friday, October 2, 2026, at OLOL in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Born in Dallas, NC, she was one of five daughters born to the late Lee Roy and Estelle Annie Early Toomey. She spent her entire adult life as a pastor’s wife and homemaker. If you knew Anne, you know that music and singing brought her so much joy. She had the purest soprano voice that has now joined the choir of angels in heavenly worship to the King of kings.
Anne is survived by her two sons, Jonathan Ray McClure (Shannon Marcolini) and Donald Lee McClure (Terrie); nine grandchildren, Maryanne McClure Reji, Mallory McClure Aaen, Brianna Marcolini, Carter, Emily, Matthew, Kinsley, Aubrey, and Austin McClure; two great grandchildren, Ezra Mac and Estella Joy Reji; one sister, Brenda Toomey Bradshaw; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Anne is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three sisters: Lillian Gregory, Mary Ruth Hayes, and Clara Faye Cline.
The family will celebrate her life with her Riverside Baptist Church family, Watson, LA, on Sunday, October 25th, with one of her favorite events…a church potluck meal. We will celebrate with her NC family at a later date (tbd). She will be laid to rest at Long Creek Memorial Baptist Church in Dallas, NC.
Her family wishes to leave you with these words of comfort from I Thessalonians 4: “13 But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. 14 For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep. 15 For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from Heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore, encourage one another with these words.” ESV
