Danny Cambre went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Christmas evening, 2025. Born in Baton Rouge on November 29th, 1947, to Walter and Evelyn Cambre, his life was defined by devotion—first to Jesus Christ, and then to his family.
Danny grew up working in his father’s service station, the Exxon in Port Vincent. He went on to serve in the United States Air Force and explored various career paths before settling into a role in logistics management within the tire industry. However, Danny was not defined by the work he did for a salary, but by the labor he poured into his passions.
He was madly in love with his wife and dedicated to the care of his children, spending his leisure time creating memories with them. Despite working long, hard hours, he remained consistently involved in prison ministry, teaching Sunday school, and discipling young believers. He firmly believed that the Church should be going door to door, sharing the love, grace, and mercy he had found in Jesus.
He is survived by his bride of 54 years, Dianne Cooper Cambre; his daughter, Julie Parker; his daughter, DeAnn Scott and her husband Scottie; and his son, Timothy Cambre and his wife Stephanie.
His legacy lives on through his grandchildren: Lauren Cambre, Shannon Parker, Kaleigh Cambre, Brandon Scott, Michael Cambre, Skyler Scott, Rebekah Wilks, and Lydian Wilks; as well as his great-grandchildren: Destin Hobgood, Brylee Adams, and Jace Parker. He is also survived by his brothers, Robert and Jeffrey Cambre. The family also extends a special thanks to Kent Hernandez and Margarita Landy, long-time friends who may not be blood, but are family all the same.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Evelyn Cambre, and his daughter, Sara Cambre.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Christ Community Church in Denham Springs on January 3rd; Fellowship starts at 10AM and services start at 11AM.
Danny will be remembered for his sacrificial love for his family, his burden for the lost, and his passion for discipling young believers to understand their identity in Christ—a victory he now fully realizes in Him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Christ Community Church building fund.
