Doris Easterly Chavers, age 91, passed away peacefully at her home in Watson, Louisiana, on January 30, 2026. She was born on July 23, 1934, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Her last days were spent in Watson, where she lived her entire life and built a legacy of love, family, and service.

Doris was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She was married to the love of her life, Leroy Chavers, who preceded her in death. Together they created a strong and loving family that was always the center of her world.

She is survived by her children, Mary Frances Turner; Rudy Chavers and his wife Tami; and her daughter-in-law Lorraine Chavers. Doris was a proud grandmother to Robyn and Trea Barfield and family, Jayde and Richard Paulk and family, Katie Chavers, Rachel Chavers, Ryan Chavers, Eric and Randi Chavers and family, Marci and Michael Guidry and family, Blake and Felicia McDonald and family, Chantz and Jaqueline Kilcrease and family, and Colby and Paige Kilcrease and family. She was also a loving great-grandmother to many cherished great-grandchildren who brought her endless joy.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leroy Chavers, her son, Richard “Dick” Chavers, her parents, Ola V. Easterly and Rudolph P. Easterly, and her brother, Dawes Easterly.

Doris worked for many years at the family bank, First National Bank, where she was known for her dedication, kindness, and strong work ethic. She took great pride in her work and in serving her community. Known affectionately as “Maw Maw,” Doris had a gentle spirit, a warm heart, and a quiet strength that touched everyone who knew her. She loved to travel, cherishing every opportunity to see new places and create lasting memories with her family. She will be remembered for her unwavering love and dedication to her family, her faith, and the countless cherished memories she created with her family and friends. Doris lived a long, full life surrounded by love, and she passed peacefully in the home she grew up in.

Visitation will be held at Live Oak Church, Watson, Thursday, February 5, from 12 p.m. until service at 2 p.m. officiated by Dr. Mark Crosby. Burial will follow in Live Oak Church Cemetery.
