Douglas McKenzie Miller passed at the age of 72 on August 17, 2025. He was born in Crawfordsville, Indiana to his parents Russell C. and Patricia Ann Miller on July 20, 1953. He worked as a welder for over 30 years and was a former member of EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association). He was a loving husband and father, known for his kindness and patience. A true craftsman at heart, he found joy in working with wood and leather, creating knives, holsters, and even building an airplane of his own. Aviation remained one of his greatest passions; though he hadn’t flown in years, he was always proud to hold a private pilot’s license. He shared his life with eight beloved boxer dogs, enjoyed classic Westerns, and looked forward each year to the excitement of the Indy 500. He will be deeply missed by those that had the privilege to know and love him.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years Patricia Miller, daughter Jennifer Bush (Cody Bush), grandchild Christen “Codi” Bush, sister Leslie Sue Morgan (David Morgan), brother Samuel “Sam” Miller (Terry Miller), and nephews Sawyer Morgan, Evan Morgan, Matthew Miller, and Joshua Miller.
He is preceded in death by his parents Russell C. and Patricia Ann Miller, grandmother Inez Smith, grandfather Sherman Smith, uncle Jim Smith, grandmother Nel Miller, and grandfather George Miller.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Louisiana Boxer Rescue.
There may be a small family gathering held at a later date.
