Elizabeth Sandefur Thompson, age 97, of Denham Springs, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, June 30, 2026. She was born in Smithland Kentucky on May 21, 1929.
She is survived by her children, Cindy Morin, Gail Curry, and Janet Thompson; grandchildren, Brian Curry, Scott Curry, Lane E. Downs, Christopher Spears, Stephen Spears and Haley McDermitt; and great-grandchildren, Kade, Sage, Max, Sawyer, Fletcher, Barrett, Brogan, Cooper, Kennedy and Luke. Also survived by numerous extended family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward R. Thompson; parents, Vernon and Myrtle Sandefur; sister, Rebecca Jussila; and brother, J B Sandefur.
Elizabeth dedicated much of her life to caring for those she loved as a homemaker. She later enjoyed a successful career in Real Estate. She was also a proud co-owner of Thompson Arabian Ranch. Throughout her life she approached every endeavor with determination, warmth, and an eye for beauty. Elizabeth shared her passion for unique treasures as a vendor at the V Watts Trade Mart.
She was a member of the Denham Springs Fine Art Association and the Livingston Parish Master Gardeners, where she enjoyed sharing her artistic talents and love of gardening with others.
Elizabeth found joy in many hobbies that reflected her creative and adventurous nature. She loved sewing, gardening, fine art, pottery and fishing. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband, especially on RV camping trips and motorcycle tours that created countless cherished memories together.
Above all Elizabeth treasured the time she spent with her family. Her kind heart, creative spirit, and adventurous outlook on life touched everyone who knew her. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to know and love her.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Thompson may be made to Hospice of Baton Rouge.
The family would like to extend a special Thank You to Becky Maus, her faithful and loving caregiver; and to the exceptional staff of Hospice of Baton Rouge for their compassion and professionalism.
A private family memorial will be held in Denham Springs, Louisiana. Burial will follow in Smithland, Kentucky, time TBD.
