Elnora Blackwell Jackson Fontenot
Born February 10, 1930, in Sherburne, Louisiana to Lee Vester Blackwell and Nettie Mae Luby Blackwell, Elnora grew up in Lakeland and graduated from Rougon High School. On May 11, 2026, surrounded by her children at her home in Greenwell Springs, she left this life behind and entered Paradise with her loving Savior.
After her love for the Lord, Elnora’s foremost love was for her family, who knew her affectionately as “Nonie.” She was an amazing, loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She loved to cook and made sure that everyone who walked through her door was offered a meal and a cup of coffee. She spent untold hours on her back porch drinking coffee and conversing with friends and family.
In her younger years, she enjoyed working in her yard and always had beautiful plants on her patio. Throughout her life she worked jigsaw puzzles and passed that hobby down to many in her family. She also loved to play cards and did so up until the week she died.
She attended more football, t-ball, baseball, and basketball games than one can count, cheering for all the children, but especially her own. Only a couple of years ago she was still fishing (and catching!) at her son’s camp – a pastime she sorely missed in recent months.
When her children were young, Elnora worked out of her home as a hairdresser. After her husband Ashley died, she went to nursing school and worked as an LPN in a nursing home, until becoming the office manager, where she worked until she retired.
Elnora is predeceased by her husband, Ashley Jackson, and second husband, A.B. Fontenot; her siblings; Marvin Blackwell, Edwin “Buddy” Blackwell, Sarah Gertrude Blackwell Jordan, Margie Mae Blackwell Cowan Bull, Evelyn Estelle Blackwell, Odessa Dot Blackwell Coston; her son James “Jimmy” Jackson, infant son, Paul Douglas Jackson; and grandson, Joshua Manning.
She is survived by her sons Milton Jackson and Thomas “Tommy” Jackson; daughter, Lori Jackson Manning, and daughter-in-law, Priscilla Sauer Jackson (Jimmy); grandchildren, Jason Jackson (Shelley), Todd Jackson (Jessica), Brian Jackson (Summer), Robert Henson, Kim Henson Haddox (Todd), Jamie Jackson (Bobbie), Tammy Jackson Conn (Wade), Renae Jackson, and Ashlye Manning; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly and counted as her own.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jason, Todd, and Brian Jackson, Logan Peairs, and Jake and Reece Conn.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at Seale Funeral Home, 1720 S. Range Ave., Denham Springs, on Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 9:00 AM until the funeral service at 11:00 AM. The graveside service and burial will follow at Denham Springs Memorial Cemetery.
Special thanks to Cardinal Hospice, especially Tasha, Ken, Lorraine, Cathy and Chaplain Jimmy.
