Eric Burns, born in Nashville, Tennessee and a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away August 6, 2026 at the age of 63.
Eric was a beloved son, brother, uncle and nephew who was adored by all who knew him. He made a career as a self-employed landscaper and was well known for his exceptional work. Not only was he an incredible landscaper, he was also a great handyman. He could fix just about anything and was always willing to help family, friends and neighbors with a smile. Eric was a devout Christian who looked forward to going to Church to praise the Lord and share in the fellowship of those around him. In his younger years, he attended Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church before later attending Open Door Fellowship World Wide Ministry Church. His hobbies included fishing, cooking, drawing and lawn service. Above all else, he loved his family and cherished any and every moment spent with them. His kind and generous spirit will be missed dearly by all those who had the privilege to know and love him.
He is survived by siblings, Linda Shelmire, Shirley Burns Franklin, Marleen Burns Coleman, Teresa Tolbert, Amos Tolbert, Jr., Michael A. Burns, Darrell L Tolbert, and Tony Tolbert. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and aunts.
He is preceded in death by his biological father, Oscar Lee Burns; parents, Amos Tolbert, Sr. and Ellaire Tolbert; daughter, Lakira Burns, and brother, David Burns.
