Freida Driggers Smith, 88 years old, resident of Denham Springs, Louisiana, passed away on June 5, 2026. She was born on January 3, 1938 in Lake City, South Carolina. She was a native of Scranton, South Carolina. Freida has been a faithful member of Amite Baptist Church in Denham Springs, Louisiana since the late 60’s. She worked in the church nursery for over 40 years. She was a homemaker and enjoyed working in her yard and doing crafts and other activities. Above all she loved being with her family.
Freida is survived by her daughters Wanda Smith Morano, Sandra Smith Kelly (Larry Kelly, Sr.), and Crystal Smith Helg (Junior Helg); son, Kenny Smith (Michelle Smith); grandchildren, Shasta Kelly Looper (Cheney Looper), Larry Kelly, Jr. (Jannie Kelly), Leslie Smith Richard (Joey Richard), Travis Smith (Deanna Smith), Anthony Morano (Courtney Morano), Scott Morano, Stephaine Morano, Bradley Bedwell, Jordyn Bedwell, and Kamryn Bedwell; great grandchildren, Sophie Kelly, Sadie Kelly, Karlie Johnson, Braiden Richard, Jolie’ Richard, Gianna Morano, Braxdyn Anderson, Bryson Anderson, Silas Carollo, Artemis Bedwell, and Anthony John “AJ” Morano; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Freida is preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Ray Smith; parents, John Wesley Driggers and Mary Ethel Nettles Driggers; sisters, Billie Ruth Driggers, Mary Gwynn Evans Nettles; Jaqueline Driggers Barfield; and brothers, Henry “Son” Cook, Charlton Cook, and Johnny “Dot” Cook.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, Louisiana for a visitation on Sunday, June 7, 2026 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Visitation will resume Monday, June 8, 2026 at Amite Baptist Church, Denham Springs, Louisiana from 9:00 AM until the funeral service at 11:00 AM. Graveside service will be held at Amite Baptist Church Cemetery.
