Billy Henderson, born March 3, 1933, passed away on August 4, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of devotion to family, service, hard work, and cherished memories shared with those who knew and loved him.

Billy graduated from Denham Springs High School before enlisting in the military, where he served his country with honor as a tail gunner in the B-29 during the Korean War. Following his service, he built a career with Gulf States Utilities working his way from lineman to supervisor and was known for his dedication and steady work ethic. He once received an award for rescuing a person trapped under a tractor while on the job.

In his younger years, Billy enjoyed hunting and spending time outdoors; he was an excellent marksman. After retirement, he and his wife, Janice, found joy in traveling as part of an RV club, creating lasting memories along the way. Nobody could beat them in an egg toss contest.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years, Janice Harris Henderson his birth parents, George W. Henderson, Sr. and Lily Ida Sibley, Joseph and Georgia Henderson who raised him from infancy; sister, Marie Hancock; and brothers, Kenneth Henderson, Allen Henderson, and Wesley Henderson.

Billy is survived by his three children and their spouses: Dianne and Keith Pearson of Keller, Texas; David and Diane Henderson of Denham Springs, Louisiana; and Denise and Jeff Lowe of Bella Vista, Arkansas. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Jennifer and Andy Donlon, Heather Decker, Ryan and Taylor Pearson, Danielle Henderson, Chet and Leah Henderson, Christine and Dustin DeKeno, and Tiffany Lowe; as well as nine great-grandchildren and brothers, J.R. Henderson, Terry Henderson, Robbie Henderson, and Jay Legath.

Billy will be remembered for his love of family, his service to his country, his commitment to his work, and the many friendships and experiences he gathered throughout his life.

A wake will be held at Hebron Baptist Church from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on August 15, 2026. The funeral service will commence at 12:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a favorite charity in Billy’s memory.
