Gerald “Jerry” W. Cutrer, a resident of Watson, Louisiana, passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2026, at the age of 89.
Jerry was a graduate of Istrouma High School and proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Following his military service, he enjoyed a long career with ExxonMobil, from which he retired.
Jerry had a lifelong love of sports and the outdoors. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing basketball and softball in church and local recreational leagues. In his free time he could often be found enjoying two of his favorite pastimes, fishing and playing golf.
Jerry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He was also deeply devoted to his church, where his faith and fellowship were an important part of his life. His family was especially important to him, and his legacy will live on through the generations who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Lois Cutrer; his parents, James Virgil Cutrer and Mary Mennee Cutrer; and his siblings, Ronald Cutrer, James Cutrer, Mary Ann Passons, and Beverly Turner.
Jerry is survived by his siblings, Wally Cutrer (Wanda), Bob Cutrer (Toni), and Judy Hoover.
He is also survived by his three children and their families:
His son, Michael Cutrer (Mary Jane), and grandchildren Kyle Cutrer, Kaleb Cutrer, Madison Chatelain (Dillon), Haleigh Baldwin (Nathan), and Hope Turner (Trampus Butler); and great-grandchildren Wyatt, Hudson, and Keller.
His son, David Cutrer (Christi), and grandchildren Caitlyn Cutrer (Connor McGinness), McKenzie Cutrer, Cameron Cutrer, and Kennedy Cutrer.
His daughter, Kellie Wentz (Shawn), and grandchildren Austin Wentz (Keeley Elliott), Alex Wentz, and Amber Wentz.
Jerry will be deeply missed by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His life was marked by service—to his country, his church, his work, and most importantly, his family. He leaves behind a lasting legacy of faith, devotion, and love that will continue through the family he cherished.
