Jacqueline Bennett, born in Baton Rouge and a resident of Central, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2026 at the age of 98.
Jacqueline lived a life rich in service and passion, leaving an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to know her. She made a career as restaurant owner and dietitian. She enjoyed cooking and enjoyed nourishing others with the dishes she prepared. She was a natural at creating a warm and welcoming environment in both on the job and at home. Beyond her professional achievements, Jacqueline was a woman of deep faith and was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. She dedicated a large part of her life to her church community and found solace and strength in her relationship with God. Her joy for life was evident in her interests; she found pleasure in praying, watching television, and participating in church activities. These hobbies provided her with an outlet for relaxation and reflection, allowing her to connect with both her spirituality and her community.
Jacqueline will be remembered fondly by all who crossed her path. Her legacy of compassion, dedication, and unwavering faith will live on in the hearts of her friends and loved ones.
She is survived by her children, Jacqueline “Cheree” Duvic (Michael), Robin Gilliam, Gerald “Jerry” Bailey (Ellen), and daughter-in-law, Sylvia Bailey; grandchildren, Bryan, Jillian, Katyn, Denise, Elinor, Jennifer, Amanda, Mary “Lark”, Jamie, Matthew, Sandy, Sue, Robin, David, as well as several great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by husband Harry Bailey; sons, Leslie “Jim” and Harry “Mickey” Bailey; mother, Sandra and stepfather Louis Bardach; father, Leslie Fuller, as well as her granddaughter, Patricia “Darlene” Bailey.
A memorial service will take place at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church on Friday, February 6, 2026 with rosary at 9:30 AM and service beginning at 10 AM, graveside memorial and burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.
