James Daniel "J.D." Albin, 82, of Denham Springs, Louisiana, passed away on July 4, 2025. Born on September 6, 1942, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, J.D. was a man whose life was defined by his unwavering kindness, deep love for his family, and his dedication to those around him. J.D. was the beloved son of Gladys Albin and the late Joseph Daniel Albin.
J.D.’s life was rich with love and family. He shared 41 beautiful years with his first wife, Carolyn Evans Albin, before her passing in 2003, and found love once more with his second wife, Judith Albin, with whom he shared another 20 wonderful years. J.D. and Carolyn had four grandchildren, Kelsey Brodkin, Charlie Pindell, JD Pindell, and Anna Pindell and two great-grandchildren, Charlotte Pindell and Sadie Rose Pindell. J.D. and Judy had seven grandchildren, Sara Chauvin, Sydney Bingham, Nicole Iacono and Mike Iacono, Katie Kurtz, John E. Whitworth and Paige Whitworth, Matthew P. Whitworth, Catherine (Kate) Whitworth, and seven great-grandchildren, Alexa Chauvin, Andrew Kendrick, Carley Kendrick, Nico Iacono, Drew Iacono, John W. Whitworth, and Collins Whitworth; all of whom J.D. loved dearly as his own.
A skilled and detailed pipefitter with Local 198 and sprinkler fitter through Local 669, J.D. worked tirelessly, always taking pride in his craft. He was the Plumbers Business Agent, the Business Agent of the Baton Rouge Building and Trades. No other union leader in history has made the cover of the Wall Street Journal. Later in life, he treasured his part-time position at Lowes, lending assistance and kindness to everyone he encountered. He often shared his knowledge freely, seeking ways to help others along their life’s journey.
An engaging storyteller, he could captivate any audience with stories from times past or a light-hearted joke to brighten someone’s day. His kind and patient nature meant he was slow to speak and quick to listen, often offering wise advice laced with love and sincerity. Whether entertaining with a funny dad joke or sharing his vast wisdom, his comforting words brought joy and meaning to everyone around him.
Family and faith defined his life, and his greatest achievements were always found in the warmth and care he poured into his family. J.D.'s kindhearted and patient nature always shone through. His towering, burly presence often masked his gentle soul. A man of deep faith, he lived his beliefs daily, an example to all who knew him as he modeled the love of Christ. As a member of First Christian Church of Baton Rouge, he found great joy in serving others and bringing comfort wherever it was needed. J.D. found pleasure in the simple things. He loved listening to music on long drives and singing along to his favorite tunes, mostly on repeat. In his younger years, J.D. was known for "cutting a rug," sharing laughter-filled moments with family and friends alike.
In addition to his nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren, JD is survived by his wife, Judith Albin; daughters, Jodi Brodkin and Jana Pindell; stepdaughters, Shirley Clark Bingham, and Sherri Kurtz; stepson, John Whitworth; mother, Gladys Albin; sisters, Evelyn Ackerman and Elvia (Sam) LeBlanc; brother, Randy Albin; brother-in-law, Dickie LeBlanc; sons-in-law, Thom Brodkin and Charles Pindell; step sons-in-law, Chris Bingham, and Tom Kurtz.
