James Wesley Hayden, passed away peacefully in his home in Denham Springs, Louisiana, on June 26, 2025, at the age of 77. He was born on April 1, 1948, in Hammond, Louisiana. Jim, a devoted husband and cherished family man, spent 58 years married to his beloved wife, Sheila Hayden.
Jim dedicated his professional life to the Exxon Chemical Plant, where he worked as a welder before retiring. He was known for his remarkable skill and work ethic; he earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues over the years. Outside of his career, he found great joy in playing his guitar, often sharing melodies with those closest to him.
He is survived by his wife and loving daughters: Rhonda Blount (Mike), Robyn Erwin (Steve), and Rachelle Watts (Erik). His legacy continues through his grandchildren; Lauren Courtney (Daryl), Falon Hebert (Josh), Hayden Erwin (Breanna), Allie Dowd (Ryan), Kelsea Watts, and Lane Blount (Lauren); and great-grandchildren, Maddox Courtney, Rikki Leigh Erwin, Andi Courtney, and Stevie Kay Erwin. Jim also leaves behind a sister, Evelyn Sue Stilley; nieces, Tracey Zoetis, Shannon Arthur, Heloise Martin, and Jennifer Efferson; and nephews, Mark Stilley, Jody Rosa, and Wesley Hayden. He was preceded in death by his brother, John Russell Hayden, and nephews Randy Stilley and Jason Stilley, as well as his parents, W.E. “Sue” and Mildred Evelyn Hayden.
A memorial service to honor Jim Hayden will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at Revival Temple Church, 28521 Walker South Rd. in Walker, Louisiana at 4:00 p.m. Visitation hours will begin from 2:00 p.m. until time of service. Jim will be greatly missed but his spirit will remain alive in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
