James “Jimmy” Thomas McMichael, 75, was born on June 21, 1951, in Summit, New Jersey, and passed away on September 5, 2026. Jimmy proudly served his country in the United States Navy.

Jimmy was an all-around good man who valued the simple things in life—family, friendship, good conversation, and time spent on the water. He loved being on the water and especially enjoyed going for boat rides. Above all, his greatest joy was his family, and he treasured every moment spent with his children and grandchildren.

Jimmy shared an especially close bond with his son, Josh, who was truly his best friend. Whether they were having lunch together or simply talking on the phone, their time together meant the world to him. Their friendship as father and son was something very special.

He also looked forward to his Thursday “guys’ lunch” with his former coworkers who called him Mac. Those lunches were always a highlight, filled with laughter, stories, and plenty of reminiscing about the years they had all worked together.

Jimmy will be remembered as a kindhearted, genuine man, a proud veteran, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and a loyal friend. His love for his family and the friendships he built throughout his life will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Jimmy is survived by his wife, Ruth McMichael; children, Delany Guidry (Kip), Nicole Arnold, Josh McMichael (Tonya), Rachel Ramero (Amy); stepchildren, Jessica Wagner (Andrew), Jennifer Lambert (Devon), Joshua England (Cinthya), and Justin England; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother, Robert “Bob” McMichael, Jr. (JoAnn); along with a host of nieces and nephews.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his first wife, Darlene McMichael; parents, Robert McMichael and Jean McMichael; and grandson, Billy Arnold.

A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
