If you knew Janet, you knew two things for sure: she was the baby of the family, and she loved her family more than anything. If you were her friend, you were also part of her family.

Janet was one of a kind. She had a big personality, a generous heart, and a laugh that could light up a room and could be heard next door! She loved to have a good time, eat good food, and was always up for a ride, especially in her convertible Thunderbird. She most enjoyed spending time at The Island View Casino which was practically her second home. She had her own front door parking spot. If her hand had even a slight itch, she was on her way.

Janet was incredibly giving and had a heart for people. She never met a stranger, loved her family deeply, especially her kids who were her pride and joy. Janet was always willing to give of herself to those she cared about.

Her son, Todd, was the greatest love of her life. Janet was devoted to making sure he was cared for, protected, and loved. They were the dynamic duo, partners in crime, ready to take on anything.

In the last several years of Janet’s life, her daughter, Lesa, took on a role that went far beyond being a daughter. She became her mother's caregiver, advocate, protector, and constant source of love and strength. Lesa also lovingly cared for Todd and made sure that both her mother and brother were taken care of.

When Janet discovered Facebook, she reconnected with her classmates from Park Forest Junior High and her 1974 Glen Oaks High School Class. They often got together for reunions, went on cruises, and visited each other over dinner.

Janet leaves behind a lifetime of memories—her unforgettable laugh, her generous spirit, her love of a good meal, her adventures at the casino, and her unmistakable personality.

We can picture her now, laughing, enjoying a good meal, looking for her next lucky hand, and probably reminding everyone around her that she was the baby.

Janet was deeply loved, completely unforgettable, and will be missed more than words can express.

Rest easy, Janet. May your table always have good food, your laughter always be heard, and may the poker machines finally be in your favor. Save us a seat.

The family would like to thank Baton Rouge Hospice, the Butterfly Wing at Baton Rouge General Hospital, Lee Carey, Milly Goutreaux, Pat Jones, Shena Byrd, Anbronda Knox and Barbara Carter for their great care of Janet. Lesa and Todd would also like to thank all her friends and family for visiting and letting her know how much she was loved.
