Jeffery Yaun, a 25 year veteran of the US Navy and resident of Gonzales, passed away on June 27, 2025, surrounded by family. Jeff, as he was known to many, was raised in Baton Rouge and graduated from Istrouma High in 1978 before enlisting in the U.S. Navy. Jeff earned the rank of Senior Chief, saw action in the Gulf War, and travelled the world. In his spare time, Jeff immersed himself in Civil War history, archeological treasure hunting, being outdoors, and bow hunting. All traits he learned at a young age while searching the battle fields of Port Hudson with his family.
He is preceded in death by his father Lucious Yaun Jr, his mother Gloria Yaun, and his sister Kim Yaun.
He is survived by his wife and the love of his life, Jodi Cox Yaun, brothers Darryl Yaun and wife Brenda and Curtis Yaun and wife Dawn, his sister Jeanine Zachariah and husband Tommy, and his best friend and shipmate, Chris Patterson. He is also survived by proud aunts and uncles and nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs for a visitation on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 from 9:00 AM until the memorial service at 11:00 AM. Graveside service and military honors will be at Port Hudson National Cemetery, Zachary.
