Jerry Louis Wilson

Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Jerry Louis Wilson was born to the union of Frances Edwards Singley and Rivers Faust Wilson in Ball, Louisiana on October 7, 1942, the third of four children. He died peacefully, surrounded by family on June 25th. Jerry was known for his ability to make others feel comfortable, to tell great great jokes and entertaining stories and for being a leader in his industry.

After his secondary schooling, Jerry made the decision to serve his country and enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served for eight years. During that time he was stationed in Thule, Greenland, Thailand and then with his young family in Washington State and Tampa, Florida. After Jerry was honorably discharged he transitioned to a career in the Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Industry that spanned more than forty years. Jerry became a leader in the Louisiana Nursing Home Industry and known for his compassion and dedication to the people he served. He finished his professional career as a consultant for FEMA visiting communities that had been devastated by natural disasters and writing grants that would help them rebuild. He was particularly proud of the work he did in his home state following Hurricane Katrina and he immensely enjoyed his time in New York following Hurricane Sandy. Jerry’s true passions were his family, LSU athletics, playing golf and classic cars. Jerry was a proud football season ticket holder and member of the Tiger Athletic Foundation for more than forty years. He was a skilled golfer and member of the Country Club of Leesville, Oak Knoll Country Club in Hammond and Money Hill Golf and Country Club in Abita Springs. Jerry also owned several classic cars and won multiple “best in show” and “people’s choice” awards in shows across the region.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Rivers “Sonny” Faust Wilson, Jr. and a great-grandson, Nolan Emerson McCartney. 

Jerry is survived his daughter, Janet Wilson Scheller and her husband Rich of Slidell; son, Randall Keith Wilson of Covington; his granddaughter, Bevann McCartney Dubuisson and her husband, Herbert of Covington; grandson, Randall Keith Snell and his wife, Tammy of Schertz,TX; grand-daughter, Brittney Wilson and her fiancee’, Jeff of Blaine, WA; grandson, Nathan McCartney of Covington; grand-daughter, Bridget Wilson of Bellingham, WA; five great-grandchildren; sister, Margaret Grimes and her husband, Patrick of Pineville, LA; sister Brenda Bonner of Pineville, LA; sister-in-law, Ruth Wilson of Alexandria; several nieces and nephews and his former wife of thirty-years and the mother of his children, Carolyn Brittain of Alexandria. He leaves a legacy of loyalty and deep love of his family, service to his country and dedication to excellence in the care of the elderly.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Garden View Assisted Living in Baton Rouge and Southern Grace Hospice for their care and compassion during his final days.

Family and Friends are invited to join in a celebration of Jerry’s life, to be held at the Hotel Bentley in Alexandria, on July 12, 2025, from one o’clock until three o’clock in the afternoon.
