Jimmy Don York was born on October 18, 1980, and entered into Heaven and the arms of Jesus on March 26, 2026, at the age of 45.
Jimmy was once full of life and deeply loved by those around him. He cherished time with family and friends—often being the first to arrive and the last to leave. Some of his favorite moments were spent fishing and enjoying the quiet peace of the pond at what the family calls “the compound.” Jimmy was known for his playful spirit and sense of humor.
He loved joking and picking on those around him, often making everyone laugh until they cried. He started in plant work doing fireproofing. He was a carpenter when he wanted to be. He also helped his brother in the granite shop. Jimmy was in the strongest battle of his life and is not defined by the struggles he faced over the last couple of years.
Jimmy is survived by his wife of 29 years, Julie York, and Tristan York, whom he raised as his own. He gave the gift of life to his three children Kayne Strahan and wife Alyssa, Kaylie Strahan Williams, and Breyanna Strahan. And a grandson, Carter Lee. He was raised and loved by his mother, Deirdre York Creel and Jesse Creel. Jimmy is also survived by his brothers, James (Jamie) Gay and wife Brandy, and Joseph Gay and wife Sarah; his sisters, Ashley King and husband David, Mariah (Maya) Creel, and Mary Creel; and his MawMaw, Sally White. He is also survived by his biological siblings; Brandi (Deshea) Sibley, and Timothy Ray. Additional surviving family members include his uncle David York and his aunts; Donna York and Angela Bolton Montgomery and husband Kenneth. He has numerous nieces, nephews, 1 great niece and 3 great nephews.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his biological mother, Tina York; his biological brother, Christopher York; and his grandparents, Frank and Carole Bolton, and Jimmy “Buddy” Don York; aunt, Crystal York Moe; cousin, Brianna Moe, and James (Ricky) Gay Sr.
