Listen to Obituary

Jo Monette “Monette” Aubert Wilburn passed away on January 31, 2026, surrounded by love. A devoted wife, mother, and “Maw Maw,” Monette dedicated her life to caring for others—both in her home and throughout her career in Critical Care nursing.

Monette was born to Joachim J. and Dorothy H. Aubert on July 17, 1953, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She grew up in Denham Springs, Louisiana, graduating from Denham Springs High School. She went on to complete a degree in nursing from Nichols State University. Her compassion, steadiness, and wisdom touched countless lives. In her downtime, she enjoyed spending time cross-stitching, traveling, and scuba diving. She found solace in the sound of waves crashing on a beach and spending countless hours on her swing.

Monette is survived by her husband, Bob Wilburn, in Baton Rouge; her sons, Jay Farmer (Amy), in Denham Springs, and Brian Wilburn, in Albuquerque, New Mexico; a daughter, Jen Wilburn, in Louisville, Colorado; and her cherished grandchildren, Joe and Ella Farmer, in Denham Springs. She is also survived by her brothers, Winton Aubert, in Klein, Texas, and Murphy Aubert (Fe), in Baton Rouge. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joachim and Dorothy Aubert.

Visitation will be held at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, Tuesday, February 3, from 10 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park.
