John Leslie Cash, Sr. “Johnny Cash” “Cash” “Brother”, a resident of Walker, Louisiana passed away on February 20, 2026.
He was born on August 6, 1973 in Mississippi. He came into this world wild, loud and grinning like he already knew it was his stage. Mom and Dad moved us to Louisiana where the trees are tall, the rivers know your name, and little boys learn how to climb higher than their mama would like. John took that lesson to heart, He was a tree climber by trade and by spirit; always finding the tallest branch, always seeing what the view looked like from a little further up. He would climb high and love to drop from above going head first down just to be a clown and scare the crap out of us.
Cash was the kind of person you only meet once in a lifetime. A true adventurer at heart, he was known far and wide as the man who could climb any tree — and he often did. If you were looking for him, chances are you’d find him high in the branches, fearless and free. There truly wasn’t a tree he could not climb.
Born a daredevil, Cash carried that bold spirit with him throughout his life. He faced the world head-on, always ready for the next adventure. But beyond his bravery and love for the outdoors, what truly defined him was his heart.
Cash never met a stranger. To know him was to be welcomed as family. He had lifelong friendships that beginning at a young age — a testament to the loyalty and genuine spirit he carried through life. He was the kind of man who would stop whatever he was doing to help someone in need. If you needed a hand, Cash was already there.
Cash lived boldly, loved fiercely, and left an imprint on every life he touched. Though he may no longer be climbing the trees we see, his spirit will forever soar above us — free, strong, and unforgettable.
Cash is survived by his sons, John Leslie Cash, Jr. and Royce Earl Cash; bonus children, Michael Perry and Chris Perry; sisters, Tammy Cash and favorite sista in law Lee, April Cash Brown and husband, Steven and Rachel Kent and husband, Butch; brother, Royce Arnold, Jr.; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Cash is preceded in death by father, Wayne Cash; mother, Sue Arnold; and bonus father, Royce Arnold, Sr.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at Papi’s Fajita Factory, 35055 LA 16, Denham Springs, Louisiana from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM
