John Christopher Reschar

John Christopher Reschar passed on Monday, July 21,2025 at the age of 86. He was born on September 6,1938 to Ralph Lee Reschar and Kathryn Windsor Chapman Reschar in Wharton, TX.

John was a graduate from Louisiana Tech University (Ruston, LA) with a Bachelor of Science in Forestry degree. He would later serve in the United States Army. John retired from Grainger Industrial Supply in Baton Rouge, LA. He was a naturalist with a deep appreciation for the natural flora and fauna and their interaction within their environment as seen through his special interest in forestry. He is remembered as a history buff with his love of military history.

John is survived by his nieces; Becky Layne Patin Kieffer (James Carpenter) of Natchitoches, LA, and Shelley Jo Patin Ramirez (Martin) of Dry Prong, LA. He is also survived by Candace, CJ, Ally and Alex, and their families.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Kathryn; and his sister, Carolyn Lee Reschar Patin.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Homecare of Louisiana, including Mrs. Gloria, Latisha, Banai, Mirna; the staff of Home Instead Care, Ms. Sandra and Zsa Zsa; and Clarity Health Services including Crossroads Palliative & Hospice Care, and their kind and dedicated staff. The family also extends their gratitude to the team at Heritage Manor #2 of Baton Rouge and the physicians and staff at Ochsner (which location) with extra appreciation to the ICU nursing team.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, September 18, 2025 at Louisiana National Cemetery (303 W Mt Pleasant Rd., Zachary, LA 70791) beginning at 10:00 A.M.
