John E. VanSickel, resident of Denham Springs, Louisiana, passed at the age of 83 on March 17, 2026. He was born in Reading, Pennsylvania to his parents Marietta and Edward VanSickel. After graduating from high school, he went on to work as a prison guard at Elayn Hunt Correctional, as well as working at Ethyl Corporation. John was an avid enjoyer of sports, especially golf, basketball, football, and baseball. He also liked spending his time completing any kind of puzzle and being with his family. He will be dearly missed by those that knew and loved him. 

He is survived by his wife of 56 years Peggy Mullins VanSickel, daughters Cindy White, Lisa V. Babin, and Tracy VanSickel, grandchildren Carson White, Zoe Babin, and Edward Henderson, sister Kris V. Nugent, brother Dennis J. VanSickel, nephew David J. Nugent, and nieces Dana N. Harris, Carmen VanSickel, and Abby VanSickel. 

He is preceded in passing by his parents Marietta and Edward VanSickel, and brother Lewis VanSickel.

There will be a visitation at Seale Funeral Home (1720 S. Range Ave, Denham Springs, LA 70726) on Monday, March 23, 2026 from 9:00am to 11:00am with a service starting at 11:00am.
