Johnny Lloyd Barbee Jr.

Johnny Lloyd Barbee Jr., 59, of Walker, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2026 after a courageous battle with ALS.

Johnny dedicated much of his life to the flooring industry, where he was known for his hard work, skilled craftsmanship and pride in every job he completed. Before ALS took away his strength, he loved staying active and working with his hands. Even to his final days he enjoyed cheering on the LSU Tigers, watching Daystar, reading his Bible, making people laugh and never turning down something sweet.

Johnny’s life was not one of perfection and he would have been the first to tell you that. He spent much of his life facing battles that often seemed bigger than he was. But God’s grace wrote the final chapters of his story.

In the later years of his life, Johnny surrendered his heart to Jesus Christ and experienced the transforming power of God’s love and forgiveness. The man his family came to know during those years was a man whose life had been restored by grace. He faithfully read his Bible, loved listening to the Word of God and found deep joy and peace in his relationship with Christ. His faith was his foundation.

Watching that redemption unfold became one of the greatest blessings his family could ever receive. God brought healing to relationships, restoration where there had once been brokenness and a peace that carried Johnny and those who loved him through his battle with ALS. While the disease slowly weakened his body, it never diminished the faith that sustained his spirit. His testimony became a living reminder that no life is beyond the reach of God’s mercy and that it is never too late for Him to make all things new.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny Lloyd Barbee Sr. and Linda Vercher, and his beloved nephew, Matthew Hill.

He is survived by his daughters, Nicole Barbee and Anna Johnson; his son, Eric Barbee; his sister, Pamela Bolling; his cherished grandchildren, Laila Rivere, Canaan Rivere, and Kason Johnson; his siblings; along with many extended family members and dear friends whose lives were touched by his story.

Although ALS claimed Johnny’s earthly body, it could never take the hope he had in Christ. His family finds comfort in knowing that he has been made completely whole, is free from pain and now stands in the presence of the Savior who redeemed him. His life is a beautiful testimony that God’s grace is greater than our past, His mercy is deeper than our failures, and His love has the final word.
