Johnny Taylor, Sr.

Listen to Obituary

Johnny "Porky" Taylor, Sr. passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 16, 2025, after a prolonged period of illness. He was born on October 28, 1954, to Johnny "Boo" Taylor and Rose Edwards (Ballard). His life was shaped by the outdoors, hard work and familiar comforts. A man who valued simplicity and lived his life without need for attention or praise. He showed love, not in grand gestures, but steady presence and showed up in the only ways he knew how. In his later years, his favorite past-time became watching football and spending quality time with his older brother, Dwight. As his health began to decline, he looked forward to the peaceful days sitting on his front porch visiting with family and longtime friends. Though we mourn his absence, we take comfort in the thought that he is finally at rest - whole again, and reunited with his son whom he loved and missed dearly; together again in a place where neither pain nor illness can touch them.He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Marchand Taylor, daughter, Haley Taylor (Greg), grandchildren, Weston, Annalise, Hagen, Rhea, Alex and Adalynn; brothers, Dwight Taylor (Kay), Leslie "Joseph" Taylor, Sr., (Penny), Travis Ballard (Randy), Lenoard Sharp (Kim); sisters Beth Hoyt, Connie Hoyt (Terry), Mary Ann Efferson (Paul); and sister-in-law, Bonnie Marchand Monaret and twenty-four (24) nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his son, Johnny Taylor, Jr., parents, Rose Edwards Ballard, Johnny "Boo" Taylor and Louise Taylor, mother-in-law, Violet Cornett Guitreau, brother-in-law's, Duson "Penny" Hoyt, Willie "T-Man" Marchand and Dave Monaret; sister-in-law's, Sharon Threeton Taylor, Tracy Duffy Sharp, Deborah Marchand Ledoux, Patricia Marchand Picou, nephews, Jacob Ballard and Ritchie Ledoux and niece Sandy Taylor McKey.Services will be held at Seale Funeral Services in Livingston with visitation to begin on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, from 9am until 12pm. Interment will follow in the Zeigler Cemetery, Springville, LA, where he will be laid to rest.
