Josey R. Garza

Josey Rene Garza, resident of Holden, passed away at the age of 50 on October 13, 2026. He was born in Independence, LA on July 27, 1976. Josey was a person who cared for animals, whether it be farming with his chickens or loving dogs, pitbulls especially. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time or talking with his family. Josey will be dearly missed by those that had the privilege to know and love him.

He is survived by spouse Marian Garza, sister Jessica Purvis, brother Johnny Garza, uncle Joseph A. Rome, significant other Wanda L. Purvis, daughter Selena Hanson, son Alonso Purvis, cousin Joel Thomas and 'Big Daddy' Dave Sibley, and numerous other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in passing by his mother Carrie Watts Garza, aunt Faye Ballard, Auntie Lillie Rome, aunt Betty Hoyt, uncle Ellis Carter Watts Jr., and grandparents Ellis Carter Watts and Mary M. Watts.

Burial will take place at Red Oak Cemetery at a future date.
