Julius Jefferson Ferguson Jr., 79, of Bayou Barbary, Louisiana, passed away on March 18, 2026, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge. Born on February 2, 1947, Julius lived a life rooted in the simple, steady joys of the country. He was a man who felt most at home under an open sky—fishing pole in hand, surrounded by the quiet beauty of the outdoors he loved so deeply.

Julius was preceded in death by his parents, Una Mae Ferguson and Julius Jefferson Ferguson Sr.; his brother, Tommy Wren Ferguson Sr.; his nephews, Tommy Wren Ferguson Jr. and Gregory Wade Avery; his sister and brother‑in‑law, Mary Lynn and Robert Wayne Avery; numerous aunts and uncles; and his infant twin daughters, who passed away shortly after birth. Their memories remained close to his heart throughout his life.

He is survived by his son, Danny Glen Ferguson; his daughter, Donna Kay Ferguson; his brother, Malcolm Vance Ferguson, and his family; a nephew Jason Wayne Avery; as well as his niece and daughter in love, Amanda Ferguson, who held a special place in his heart.

A graveside service will be held on April 3rd at 1:00 p.m. at Pine Grove Baptist Church in Livingston, Louisiana, with Rev. Paul Taylor officiating.

Honorary pallbearers will be Terrance Jones, Kenny Ray Morrison, Alvin Martin, and Wayne Henderson, men who shared friendship, respect, and the kind of bond that lasts a lifetime.

Julius will be remembered for his quiet strength, his love of the land, and the way he carried the spirit of Bayou Barbary with him wherever he went. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
