Kathy Strode Lawrence, born November 11, 1959, in Amite, Louisiana, passed away surrounded by the deep love of her family.
Kathy was the cherished daughter of the late Claribel Strode and Charles Strode, and the beloved sister of Gloria Jones, Marie Russel, Patty Rayborn, and Brenda Tucker. She was preceded in death by her sister Judy Strode Chadwick.
For 35 beautiful years, Kathy was married to the love of her life, Dean Lawrence. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure—a life grounded in family, faith, and the joy of being together.
Kathy was a devoted mother to her daughter, Hannah Cobb Orser, and her husband, Opie Orser, of Watson, Louisiana, and to her son, Tyler Dean Lawrence, and his fiancée, Madeline McMorris, also of Watson, Louisiana. Nothing brought her more joy than being “Nana” to her five treasured grandchildren: Ella Orser, Colton Orser, Nathan Lawrence, Jackson Wilson, and Hadley Wilson. They were truly her pride and joy—her whole world.
Kathy lived a life rich in love and full of simple, meaningful pleasures. She enjoyed crafting, decorating for every holiday with enthusiasm, traveling, shopping, and, above all, nurturing her relationship with Jesus. Her faith guided her, strengthened her, and shone through in the way she loved and cared for others.
She will be remembered for her kind and gentle heart, her selflessness, her boundless patience, and the way she was always ready to lend a hand, especially when it came to her grandchildren. Kathy had a joyful, playful spirit; she was funny, goofy, outgoing, and always smiling. To know her was to feel welcomed, cared for, and loved.
Kathy is also survived by her beloved friends Patra and Jeff Easley, who walked beside her through life with loyalty and love. Kathy’s presence was a blessing, and her legacy of kindness, generosity, and unwavering love will continue to live on in every person she touched. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is now at peace, wrapped in the eternal love of her Savior.
