Larry Wayne Johnson

Larry Wayne Johnson, age 48, of Hammond, Louisiana, passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2026.

Larry was born on May 29, 1978, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to Stan and Patti Johnson.

He is survived by his sons, Waylon Allen Johnson and Hayes Brueck Johnson; their mom, Melanie Stevens Johnson, his mother, Patti Johnson; his sister, Laura Craven; his brother, Craig Johnson (Reagan) his nieces and nephews, Carley Craven Decoteau (Mason); Cree Craven Steib (Peyton); Caiya Craven Wilbon (Gerald); Champ Craven (Danielle); Gideon Johnson; and Levi Johnson; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Eden Steib, Silas Steib, Leo Decoteau, Atticus Steib, and Della Decoteau.

He was preceded in death by his father, Stan Johnson, and his brother-in-law, Kenny Craven.

Larry’s greatest joy in life was being a father to his two sons, whom he loved beyond measure and of whom he was immensely proud. He was a talented and successful chef whose creativity and passion for food touched many lives. Music was another of Larry’s great loves, and he was naturally gifted with remarkable musical ability. He found peace in the outdoors, especially while hunting and fishing.

Those who knew Larry will remember his larger-than-life personality, quick wit, and unforgettable sense of humor. He had a generous heart, was fiercely loyal to his friends and family, and genuinely cared for the people around him. In addition to his many talents, Larry was an exceptional athlete in his younger years.

Though his life was far too short, Larry leaves behind countless memories of laughter, love, and friendship. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Larry’s life during visitation beginning at 3:00 PM on Saturday July 25, 2026, followed by a memorial service at Crossroads Community Church, 143 Robin Hood Drive, Hammond, LA 70403.
