Listen to Obituary

Linda Pearl (Cobb) Still passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on January 27, 2026 at the age of 78. She will be remembered for her quick smile, her kindness, appreciation of beauty, her love and dedication to her family, friends, and students, and her devotion to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Linda was born the sixth of eight children in Beaumont, Texas on March 22, 1947 to Glen Rose and Bertie Lou Cobb. Throughout her life, she often reflected with awe and admiration for her beloved mother and the challenges her mother faced raising eight children on a shoestring budget. She married James Michael “Mike” Still in 1966 and they eventually settled in Denham Springs, Louisiana in 1980. At the age of 40, Linda began her college career at Southeastern Louisiana University where she earned her bachelor's degree in education. Immediately after attaining her degree, she began her 20-year teaching career at Denham Springs Elementary. Linda always encouraged others to pursue their own personal growth through education using herself as an example: “It’s never too late to go to school – I was a 40-year-old freshman and I had three kids I was raising!”

Linda loved singing…whether it was in the pews of First Baptist Church of Denham Springs, her car, or her favorite, to one of the many babies she rocked to sleep throughout her lifetime. She loved holidays, especially Christmas and Easter, which can be reflected by her extensive collection of holiday décor. But more than just the pretty decorations, she loved any excuse to gather and celebrate with her family. To be loved by Linda was to experience something rare and beautiful. Her love for her family and friends was unconditional, loyal, and absolute. She was genuinely interested in everyone she met, quick with a bright smile and a sincere, “Well how are you doing?” She will also be remembered for her humor, especially with the students she taught. She knew that a fun teacher could make a lesson more memorable. More than anything, Linda loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild. Her three-bedroom house always had at least one child under the roof which was her favorite excuse for never tossing out any of the toys dating back to 1970.

Linda is survived by her husband of 60 years, James Michael “Mike” Still, son, Christopher Still, daughters, Sarah Still and Emily Wood, daughter in law, Angie Still, sister, Patricia Taylor, brother Robert Cobb and his wife Ann Cobb, and brother, James “Jim” Cobb. Her memory is also carried on by her grandchildren, Evangeline Still, Hannah Still Clement, Alexander Still, Luke Wood, Brooks Wood, and Betsy Wood and her great grandson, Richard Gayle “Tripp” Neal III. She is preceded in death by her father, Glen Rose Cobb, mother, Bertie Lou Cobb, and brothers, Larry Cobb, Terry Cobb, Wayne Cobb, and Carroll Cobb.
