Lou Anne Harris Smitherman

Lou Anne Smitherman, 68, resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana passed away on January 7, 2026. She was born on January 2, 1958 to Lou Kimble Harris and Arthur James Harris.

Huge heart and loving, this selfless lady, Lou Anne, caused so many to laugh and smile, all while making them feel loved. Upon meeting Lou Anne, her quick wit, fun and adventurous spirit could be felt and seen. Whether her own children or anyone else, young and old alike, all were drawn to this beautiful soul. From the depths of her heart, Lou Anne loved big. Because of her love for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, her children, grandson, sister, brother, nieces, nephews and friends, she left a remarkable mark on each heart. She was an amazing grandmother, mother, sister, daughter, aunt, and friend. Greatly will Lou Anne (who as many know her as "Whan") will be missed.… Until we see you again…

Lou Anne is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Lou K. Harris; brother, John Stephen Harris; son, Justin Allen Smitherman; and niece, Maisy Rae Belgard.

Lou Anne is survived by her son, Jesse Wade Smitherman; grandson, Ransom Wade Smitherman; sister, Susan Harris Belgard and husband Johnny; brother, Patrick James Harris and wife Amelia; nieces and nephews, Josh Belgard and wife Leigh, Sarah Ramsey White, Brad Harris, Casey Belgard and wife Melissa; Scott Belgard and wife Melanie, Charlotte Harris-Briggs and husband Rob, Oliver Harris; as well as numerous beloved great nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the family at Seale Funeral Home, 1720 S. Range Ave, Denham Springs on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 for a visitation starting at 10:00 AM until the funeral service at 12:00 pm. A private graveside will take place at Evergreen Memorial Park at a later date.
