Lowell O’Neal Abbott

Lowell O’Neal Abbott, Jr., 77 of Baton Rouge, La., and previous resident of Hayden, Al. for many years, retired Pipefitter of Local 198, died Friday, December 22, 2023, at The Crossing at Clarity Hospice, of complications from cancer.

He loved fishing, restoring classic cars, collecting guns, making people laugh and spending time with family.

Lowell was preceded in death by his father, Lowell O’Neal Abbott, Sr., his mother, Pearl Shackelford and his partner Edna Raymer.

He was a beloved brother to Debra McCarley, father to Sheri Abbot Leblanc, Duane Abbott and Melissa Abbott Pizanie, Grandfather to Christopher Abbott, Joshua Abbott, Jonathan Lambert, Shelby Leblanc and Hailey Leblanc, Great Grandfather to Sarah Abbott and Wren Leblanc, and his best friend Terry Jordan, whom he loved like a son, all who will miss him greatly!

We would like to thank Lake Sherwood Retirement Village employees and Clarity Hospice for all the love and compassion they gave to our father and our family.

A Memorial and Celebration of Life will be held at the chapel of Lake Sherwood Village Retirement Community,4101 Plaza Tower Drive, Baton Rouge, LA 70816, at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2024.
